Deadline December 1, 2022

This year will be accepting new proposals in video/film, theater and environmentally focused projects for our Annual Artist Grant Program. Applications in other disciplines will not be considered. Please note that the primary focus of your proposal must be one of these three genres. For example, please do not apply for a Music grant if the music is simply an accompanying score for a video or dance project. video/film, theater, or environment/climate crisis must be the focus of your project. You can find out additional information about our grants using the FAQ section of the website.

Puffin has transitioned to a new partially on-line application process via a secure on-line portal. To start, you’ll need to send us a self addressed stamped envelope (SASE) via USPS (UPS, FedEx, etc) starting September 1st until December 1st to the address below. We will return your envelope with the Application Request Form. You will need to fill out that form and mail it back to us. Once we receive and process your form you will get an email with portal log in instructions. The only way to receive a log-in for submitting your application is by mailing a SASE to us and returning the form you receive. No requests submitted by email or by phone will be fulfilled; they must be submitted by mail. After we receive your form/information, we’ll establish an on-line account for you and send an email with our full application instructions.

The process to apply is as follow:

• Send a SASE from 9/1 to 12/1 to
The Puffin Foundation
Application Request
20 Puffin Way
Teaneck, NJ 07666
• Receive an application request form
• Mail back the completed request form to the address above by 12/15
• After we process your form you will receive an email with log in instructions
The Foundation requests that previous grantees allow a one-year hiatus prior to reapplication. This allows our grants to be available to an even wider number of applicants. Applicants may only submit one proposal per year. Requests for the same project should not be made by multiple applicants.

Requests for application forms must be received by December 15, 2022. Completed applications for the 2023 cycle will be accepted via our new online portal from until December 31 at 11:59pm EST, 2022. Applications received after this date will not be reviewed.

Grants from the The Puffin Foundation, can only be awarded to US residents with a social security number or US based non-profits. U.S. citizens who reside in or whose projects encompass work in other countries are still eligible to apply.

We are not able to provide status reports about the disposition of submitted applications, so PLEASE do not call seeking such information. Applicants will be notified via email on an ongoing basis about the decision on their application from January 15th through July 31st 2023.

The Foundation does not have the means to fund large film/documentary proposals, grants for travel, continuing education, or the writing or publishing of books. Average grants are approximately $1,250. The maximum grant size is $2,500. Please note that organizations with an annual budget of more than $500,000 and any project whose total budget exceeds $250,000 are not eligible for funding.
