Individual Artists Grants support and enable artists to grow professionally and to enhance the cultural climate in Livingston and Monroe Counties. The program looks for proposals of high artistic merit which engage a segment of the community through a public program, such as an exhibition, or performance that is open to the general public, and or the inclusion of community involvement in the development and creative process of the artist’s project. This can be in the form of feedback, response, interaction and/or social practice by or with community members. Examples of this type of interaction are interviews with a segment of the community, creation of parallel work by a community group, or stories and anecdotes collected from a community group that relate to the concept or content of the project. Visual, literary, media and performing artists may apply.

Individual Artist Grants are awarded in the amount of $,500. The artist may expend the funds on artist’s fees and project expenses in any proportion the artist sees fit.

Applicants may submit up to three applications in any combination of categories (Community Arts, Artists in Education, and Individual Artist) totaling no more than $5,000.

Statewide Community Regrants applicants may submit up to three direct and/or fiscally-sponsored requests in any combination of categories (Community Arts,  Arts Education and/or Individual Artists) totaling no more than $5,000. Fiscally sponsored requests are exempt from the three request limit and the $5,000 maximum.
