Craft Weekend is a long-running immersive workshop program hosted at the Folk Art Guild, a working artist community on a 350-acre farm in the Finger Lakes. Held August 7–10, 2025, this unique summer gathering invites participants to select one focused workshop and spend the weekend diving deep into their chosen craft—while surrounded by others doing the same in different disciplines.

This year’s offerings include:
• Drawing and Painting: A plein air course with classically trained artist Stefan Allen, focused on observation, composition, and working directly from the natural landscape.
• Saving Seeds, Saving Ourselves: A hands-on exploration of seed saving, food systems, and ecological connection led by Petra Page-Mann of Fruition Seeds.

Other workshops include writing, woodworking, and earth-based crafts. Each day includes focused studio time, shared meals, and informal evening gatherings.

Craft Weekend is open to both local commuters and overnight guests, with shared housing available on site.

For over 60 years, the Folk Art Guild has been a home for artists living and working together across many different mediums—exploring how that interrelationship shapes not just our art, but who we are as human beings. Craft Weekend is a rare opportunity to step into that living tradition, to learn and create in a setting that is both beautiful and deeply intentional.
