Geva Theatre Center will be holding auditions for young actors for its production of A Christmas Carol, on Wednesday, September 11 from 3:30pm – 6pm and Thursday, September 12 from 3pm – 6pm. Callbacks will take place on Friday, September 13 from 3:30pm-6:30pm.
This adaptation of A Christmas Carol, based on Charles Dickens’ classic tale of redemption for the most despised man in London, premiered in 2010 with a script by Geva Artistic Director Mark Cuddy and music by Gregg Coffin. This year’s performances begin on November 27 and run in the Wilson Stage through December 29. Rehearsals will commence on Saturday, November 9th. There are eight children’s roles and two casts of children will alternate performances. Geva Theatre Center actively encourages children of all races/ethnicities, LGBTQ children, and children with disabilities to audition.
On August 27th and 28th, in collaboration with the Avenue Blackbox Theatre, Geva Theatre Center will be holding two free audition workshops so that young performers will have a sense of what to expect, how to prepare, and how to audition with confidence. The workshops will be from 3:30-5:30pm on the 27th and 5:30pm-7:30pm on the 28th at the Avenue. RSVP at the following link: https://tinyurl.com/y2d5j2d3 Auditionees must be between the ages of 5 and 13.
Because of the professional actors union rules, children must not turn 14 until after December 29, 2019. Auditionees should come to the audition with a headshot or photograph, and a resume of experience, if any. Each young actor will be required sing either one verse of a prepared song (please bring sheet music in the correct key) or, if the child does not have sheet music, “Happy Birthday” or a holiday song is acceptable.
Auditions will take place at Geva Theatre Center, 75 Woodbury Blvd, Rochester NY, 14607 and are by appointment only. To schedule an appointment, call (585) 232-1366, between 9:00am and 5:00pm, Monday through Friday.
